More than 25 local organisations came together at the East Surrey Volunteer Fair 2026, showcasing the many ways people can get involved in their communities across East Surrey.

Held at The Belfry Shopping Centre in Redhill on 26 September 2026, the fair brought together local charities, community organisations, residents and volunteers to celebrate the incredible contribution volunteers make and highlight opportunities available across Tandridge, Reigate and Banstead.
Visitors had the chance to meet organisations supporting a wide variety of causes and discover how they could contribute their time, experience and skills.
Ray Wilkinson, Chair of Trustees said:
“Strong communities are built when people take an active part in them. Across East Surrey, volunteers contribute to an extraordinary range of organisations and causes, often bringing knowledge and commitment that cannot be replicated in any other way. The East Surrey Volunteer Fair is a chance to celebrate that contribution, and to encourage more people to discover where they can play a part in the life of their community.”

The event got off to a lively start, with Africa Community in Surrey and Sussex bringing the sound of drums to The Belfry, creating a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere as shoppers and residents explored the stalls and spoke with participating organisations.
Volunteer led community groups play an important role in helping East Surrey thrive. From supporting families and young people to improving wellbeing and protecting the environment, local organisations provide vital services and help create stronger, more connected communities.
Samantha AungThin, VASE CEO said:
“Volunteering is not simply an act of kindness. It is part of the infrastructure that keeps communities strong, which is powered by volunteers creating a strong VCSE sector that builds resilience, strengthens prevention and helps people stay well and connected. Volunteers build relationships, reduce isolation, spot problems early and connect people to support before needs become crises. That matters to individuals and communities, but to our wider health, care and public service systems. The value volunteers bring is social, human and economic. Volunteers are not an optional extra because they are an essential part of how stronger, healthier communities are built and sustained.”

The fair also highlighted what volunteering can offer individuals, from developing skills and building confidence to meeting new people and contributing to causes that matter.
Whether completely new to volunteering or looking for their next opportunity, visitors could have face-to-face conversations with local organisations, learn more about their work and explore ways to get involved.
Trish Kiy, Community Engagement & Volunteering Lead, added:
“The East Surrey Volunteer Fair welcomed change-makers, community focused curious residents who want to be a part of a positive change and to make a difference. The Fair was a wonderful reminder of what can happen when people and organisations come together with a shared commitment to their local communities. It was also an opportunity to show what volunteering means to each of us as individuals, whether that’s gaining new skills or making friends in your community. But volunteering doesn’t stop with one event. There are opportunities across East Surrey to share your time, skills and experience and to make a difference in ways that work for you. Get in touch with VASE to find out how you can get involved.”
The East Surrey Volunteer Fair 2026 was held in partnership with Reigate and Banstead Borough Council, Central Surrey Voluntary Action, Tandridge District Council and The Belfry Shopping Centre.
