STEP Into Care

STEP Into Care: Removing Language Barriers in Access to Health and Social Care

Are you from a refugee, migrant, or sanctuary-seeking background and struggling to understand or access NHS and adult social care services due to limited English?

STEP into Care is a new project designed to help you, delivered in partnership with Central Surrey Voluntary Action.

We offer free 8-week English language classes focused on building confidence and improving your communication skills specifically for navigating health and social care systems in the UK.

What the programme includes:

  • Weekly online English language classes with a health and social care focus
  • Support from trained community navigators throughout the course
  • Access to a multilingual information hub (digital and printed)
  • Occasional in-person workshops to support learning and build connections

This programme is open to adults from refugee and migrant backgrounds living in East Surrey.
